Cardating

Cardating.fr is a new carpooling application that offers in addition to carpooling, allows you to connect with people with whom you have an affinity. In other words, a mix between Tinder and BlaBlaCar. This project was the continuation of the Tawacovoiturage project.

Our actions :

Creation of the entire design strategy, brand identity, logo design.
Upstream development of the complete application with Ionic (Angular 1).
Programming Ruby On Rails API senders.
Delivery and construction process with Heroku.
Management of the delivery and publication of Apple and Play Store applications.
UML flow of the whole application.
Production of promotional videos.

After 2 years of promoting Tawacovoiturage, the first version of Cardating was a carpooling platform dedicated to events.The start-up, despite a community of more than 10,000 users and partnerships with many festivals in France, struggled to find an interesting business model.The booming sharing economy and especially the presence of the unicorn BlaBlacar made it difficult for the site to penetrate the French market.After several months of brainstorming, the Tawacovoiturage team, Loic Moncany & Marc Boulet, decided to improve the basic concept dedicated to events, in an application dedicated to affinity carpooling.The challenge was to create a mobile application available on Apple and Android.Read the presentation in French

Set clear objectives.

The goal was to create a hybrid carpooling application from scratch.Long months of research and design, UML diagrams, and user experience preceded the operational part of the project.We had to think about everything before we started coding.Create the different screens of the application, think about the different use cases, select a hybrid technology to create an application accessible on the different markets ( App Store & Android ).

After 6 months of designing the application and with the help of a new collaborator, Alain André, we chose to create the application in this form:

Back-end : Ruby on rails - API
Front-end : Ionic framework - Angularjs - html - css.

This solution would allow access to the carpooling platform data in order to build a web application.What is Ionic? Ionic is the application development platform for web developers. It creates cross-platform mobile, web and desktop applications with a single shared code.

What have we done for them.

The launch of the Cardating application provided a simple way for carpoolers to create their carpool network.The solution offered users to travel based on the affinity they have with other passengers.
